It should come as no surprise to anyone that Scott Pilgrim was our best seller last week. What will take the cake this week? Who knows, but I will point out that we’ll be making our first appearance in the “Shop Talk” section of Wizard magazine. Does this mean we’ve made it to the big time? I’d like to think we were already there, but I suppose that’s for our (hopefully) adoring public to decide.

We’ve got a fair amount of Batman this week, with THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE (Coyboy Batman) and the special and regular DVD editions of the animated UNDER THE RED HOOD movie (which is actually pretty damn sweet, if you ask me). Also, Kevin Smith wraps up BATMAN: WIDENING GYRE. Brian Bendis continues his new Ultimate Trilogy with ULTIMATE MYSTERY, wherein the new Ultimate villain may or may not be revealed (that’s probably the mystery). FEAR AGENT returns for its swan song, FLASH shows up after ironically running late, the Top Cow Universe event ARTIFACTS kicks off and Max Brooks continues his examinations of Joes & Cobras in G.I. JOE: HEARTS AND MINDS. Plus, the totally not-controversial WONDER WOMAN comes out. Well, it arrives in stores. Her coming out is a whole ‘nother controversy. Plus, this month’s PREVIEWS catalog is here, so stay tuned for our Previews Digest and the Previews episode of the Super-Fly podcast. Mmm-hmm, good times.

The Yellow Springs Experience, Cirque Carnivale and the 4th Super-Fly Live Art Show

This month Yellow Springs invites the region to become acquainted with everything that makes it special in the form of a 10-day art and cultural extravaganza called Yellow Springs Experience. From July 9-18, the village will be bustling with a flurry of cultural activities. Over 80 events ranging from visual arts workshops, wellness classes, theater and dance performances and art exhibits are scheduled, creating a 360-degree immersive shared experience. There’s all kinds of fun stuff to experience about Yellow Springs, and if you want to see what all the excitement is about, check out www.yellow-springs-experience.org/ for more information and workshop registration.

During the Yellow Springs Experience there will be a Dayton Street “Cirque Carnivale” on Friday the 16th from 6p to 10p. They’ll be closing off Dayton Street for this street carnival which will have jugglers, contortionists, the bed o’ nails, fire spinners, belly dancing, face painting, three bands, and two acoustic acts. Vendors and food will also be available. During the Cirque Carnivale we will be having our 4th Super-Fly Live Art show from 6p to 10p as well. It will be our usual host of artists working and creating to a soundtrack provided by resident DJ JFX316. If you haven’t been to a Super-Fly Art Show before, now you’ll not only get to experience it but the Yellow Springs Experience AND the Cirque Carnivale. It’s a win, win, win!

On Tuesday, July 20th the sixth and final installment of the Scott Pilgrim saga is released, and we’re gonna the the first to get it in your hot little hands! At midnight the night of the 19th/very early morning of the 20th we’ll be open and have copies of Scott Pilgrim on hand for you, the loyal Super-Fly shopper. Plus, that night only we’ll be selling volume six for 20% off the cover price until we close for the early morning at 1am. That’s right, you will have 1 hour, from midnight until 1am, to get the final volume in the Scott Pilgrim saga at 20% off the retail price. Magic:The Gathering M11 Pre-Release & Launch Party

Magic: The Gathering M11 Pre-Release Saturday, July 10th at 1pm we’ll have the pre-release tournament for the new Magic Core set M11. Buy-in will be 6 packs of M11 for $19.99, with booster prize support based on how many players we get. The more that show, the bigger the prize pool is. Then on Saturday, July 17th at 1pm it’s the Launch Party for M11 in the same format and buy-in as the pre-release. Get in on the ground floor of the new core set this month at Super-Fly, and don’t forget about our Friday Night Magic at 5pm. On the 9th & 30th we’ve got a Standard Format tournaments and a draft on the 23rd. There’s no Magic Friday the 16th.

Yellow Springs Street Fair & Super-Fly Live Art Show Tomorrow!

Don’t forget, rain or shine, tomorrow is Yellow Springs Street Fair! They’ll be all kinds of fun stuff to do in town, and most every shop will be having deals and specials on all of the cool stuff that you love. If you love our stuff (which, let’s face it, we know that you do), you’re really going to love this Street Fair.

We’ll be doing another one of our Live Art Shows, featuring DJ JFX316 on the turntables (and computer) and a host of the areas best artists drawing and painting, many of which will have stuff for sale or doing commissions for the street fair crowd. Theb art show is always a lot of fun, so we’re thrilled that the Street Fair audiences will have a chance to partake in it!

That’s not all! We’ll also be doing 50% OFF ALL BACK ISSUES! We just processed out about 7 long boxes of new product, and the Street Fair crowd will get their first crack at them! In the case of our deceptively cheap Quarter books, they’ll all be “Buy One, Get One Free!” Now that’s a bargain! Plus, we’ll also be doing 15% OFF ALL GRAPHIC NOVELS! HeroClix Tournament this Sunday, June 6th at 3pm

For those of you that are into the HeroClix scene, here’s our Clix-Meister General Brent with details for the latest tournament he’s cooked up.

Join us Sunday, June 6th at 3pm for the next event. I want to try something different. I saw this one online and thought it was a cool idea.. The Last Man Standing. All players will build a force consisting of 1 figure from each of the following point values:

1-50
51-100
101-150
151-200
201-250
251-300

All players will play on the same map. You will start the game with your 1-50 point figure only. As figures are KO’d, they are replaced with the figure in the next points bracket. When a figure is KO’d, the replacement figure enters the game in your starting area. The goal is to be the Last Man Standing.
Team builds are Unrestricted. However, no Feat, Battlefield Conditions, or Bystanders.
I have a very cool, expandable, custom map we will be playing on.

Be sure to be here and bring your A-Game…or any game really. We’ve got Clix players of all ranks to challenge.

Super-Fly Art Show and Yellow Springs Street Fair

Super-Fly Comics and Games is hosting it’s third, and possibly it biggest, Live Art Show June 12th from Noon to 5pm, which sets it right during the Yellow Springs June Street Fair. A number of artists from all over the area will be descending on the store, painting, drawing and exhibiting. Some may be accepting commissions and many will be selling pieces as well. All the while, our resident DJ, JFX316, will be playing complex mixes of Dubstep, Electronic, Hip Hop and whatever else into his remix focused, genre bending set, creating an atmosphere you won’t find at any other comic store.

In addition to the art show, since it’s Street Fair we’ll have our Back Issues at 50% off and all of our Graphic Novels will be 15% off! Plus you’ll have all the performance, crafts, giant turkey leg and people watching excitement that is Yellow Springs Street Fair! It’s an entire day’s worth of classic Yellow Springs fun!

Street Fair will be from 9 to 5, the main hours of the art show will be Noon to 5, and we’ll be open from 9 until 8!
