It’s September already! Time for evening walks in the crisp fall air through fallen leaves, coming home and drinking warm Apple Cider and sitting down by the fire. Mmmmm, good times. Wait, it’s still supposed to be 90 degrees this week. Crap. Here’s this week’s new stuff.
WOLVERINE gets a new number one (but don’t worry, Jason Aaron is still writing it) and he’s apparently going to Hell because of it. Greg Rucka’s STUMPTOWN finally finishes, most likely in the most awesome way possible, HAWKEYE & MOCKINGBIRD continue to be great, the FREEDOM FIGHTERS pick up the fight again with Palmiotti & Gray, the SECRET SIX take on all villains, THE INCREDIBLE HULKS become the best traveling family band since the Partridges and OUR ARMY AT WAR continues to fight for Mom, apple pie and babies.

Big thanks to everyone who came out to the Art show and Zombie Walk, braving the hot, thunderous and occasionally power interrupting weather. It was great to see all of our artist regulars like Zane Reichert, Joe Pruitt and Rusty Shackles, as well as newcomers from Twilight Star studios in Springfield. Thankfully, the weather managed to clear up just in time for the Zombie Walk to happen, and there were a great many crowds and zombies walking about and lots of money and food were collected for Home Inc. Then, to protect from threat of rain local metalheads Doctor Meat played their show in our warm, comicy embrace. Stay tuned for pics!
In the mean time, this weeks new comics include Harlan Ellison’s return to comics in PHOENIX WITHOUT ASHES. The SECRET AVENGERS continuing their adventure on Mars, IMAGE UNITED #3 actually ships (get ready to hold your breath for a loooooong time for #4), AVENGERS & THE INFINITY GAUNTLET retells the Infinity Gauntlet saga for an all-ages audience, the SIXTH GUN continues its inaugural arc and being one of the best new comics of the year, the NEW AVENGERS continue trying to set the world of the mystic right, STAR WARS LEGACY wraps up a 50-issue run with the promise of more Legacy-era books to come and the comic adaptation of TRUE BLOOD sates fans thirst for more Sookie and Bill.

Thanks to everyone who came out at midnight for the Scott Pilgrim volume 6 release. Now we all just have to make sure that Scott Pilgrim wins the box office shoot-out on August 13th between it, the Expendables and Eat, Pray, Love. C’mon nerds, we got this!
Here’s what else we’ve got this week, aside from the enigmatic Brightest Day teaser up there (hrm, I wonder what all that means?). Joes Quesada picks at the scab of One More Day in the latest AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, the JUSTICE SOCIETY reams up with the Justice League for their Brightest Day crossover, the TIME MASTERS join the hunt for Bruce Wayne, the TRUE BLOOD phenomenon gets the comic book treatment in an all new story by TV series creator Alan Ball, DARKWING DUCK prepares to take flight again, both Bendis AVENGERS books (original recipe and NEW) vie for your attention and RED MASS FOR MARS by Jonathan Hickman and Centerville native Ryan Bodenheim concludes.

This week we’re back on track with Wednesday comics! This week the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons takes the spotlight in COMIC BOOK GUY, THE COMIC BOOK, Astro City returns (and sets up the new Astro City regular series) in ASTRO CITY: SILVER AGENT, Tim Seeley continues his retelling of Cassie Hack’s origin in HACK/SLASH: [...]
Once again we pay for our holiday, three-day weekend revels with a Thursday New Comics Day. Here’s hoping that this is one of the last ones of these we see…ever. It is entirely possible, as the Grand Council of Comics are meeting in their secret mountain lair discussing how to make sure that comics come out on a regular day 52 weeks a year. For serious (well, maybe not about the mountain lair part).
This week there’s a bunch of wild stuff coming out. The first wave of BLACKEST NIGHT hardcovers comes out, collecting the series itself and the Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps issues. Neal Adams returns to one of the (many) characters that made hi9m famous in BATMAN ODYSSEY. CASANOVA, the book that made Matt Fraction “Matt Fraction”, returns in a recolored and remastered edition. Brian Bendis adds more to his plate with his new creator owned book SCARLET with co-conspirator Alex Maleev. Daredevil returns to New York (take pity on New York) kicking off his own non-event event, SHADOWLAND, Steve Rogers revisits his past in STEVE ROGERS: SUPER SOLDIER and the Young Avengers return in AVENGERS: CHILDREN’S CRUSADE. Plus, in a return to continuity weirdness, the second to last part of the “Second Coming” event arrives in X-FORCE and the all new X-MEN #1 (taking place after Second Coming) shows up as well (now with 100% more vampires).
It’s a good week for returns, so be sure to return to us on Thursday so you don’t miss out on any of it!

We’re back and well rested from a fun week at Origins up in Columbus. We met some neat people and saw some really fun stuff, so keep an eye out for some new gaming stuff in the shop in the relatively near future. In the meantime, here’s what we’re getting in this week.
Lex Luthor takes center [...]
There’s never a dull moment around here. This week we’ll be prepping for Origins Game Fair, where we’ll be displaying and showing our wares to the Columbus gaming public, as well as getting a peek at new games to share with you, the Super-Fly faithful. That doesn’t stop the new comics though. Nothing can stop them, really. I, for one, welcome our four color overlords.
The biggest 4-color overlord of them all, SUPERMAN, gets a 700th issue this week kicking off the potentially legendary run by Joe Straczynski. Speaking of new runs, GREEN ARROW gets a fresh start (and a new #1) in a magical forest in the heart of Star City, hoping some of the Brightest Day/Green Lantern magic rubs off on him. The RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE returns again (and returns harder), this time with rope swinging pirate action. I mean, look at him in pirate times. He’s happy as a clam. Don’t tell Bruce didn’t miss his calling. JURASSIC PARK returns for all you clever girls and boys out there, we get our summer fix of FRINGE in comic book form, Marvel reminds you that #1s are old news and now it’s time for AVENGERS #2, POWER GIRL gets a new creative team and yes Jason, we finally find out not just who but why the Red Hulk is in HULK.

Hopefully you all got a chance to see [...]
